An enormous about of public comments have been collected from the ad hoc Lopez Village Planning and Review Committee. In December 2009 at least 75 people attended a meeting designed to review previous planning, discuss future actions and solicit feedback. Following on decades of planning for Lopez Village without any resulting code implications or revisions, a significant majority voted in favor of a sub-area plan for Lopez Village. Key issues identified by the community were:
Management of stormwater runoff
Pedestrian and bicycle pathways
Protection of views and habitat
Use of cell towers
These issues were consistent with those identified in past planning efforts.
In May 2010, the Committee held a community workshop to review previous vision statements for Lopez Village and discuss current vision. The Committee subsequently held another community workshop in July to refine concepts involving parking, stormwater and pedestrian and bicycle access.
This information will form development of the Lopez Village subarea plan.
