The Department of Health and Community Services provides a wide array of direct
public health services and referral to additional social services available in the

Mission:
To promote, protect and preserve with dignity the health and well being of the people
and communities of San Juan County.
Goals:
To assure efficient, quality public services and education which promote life-long
physical and mental health for the citizens of the County with independence and
dignity;
To collaborate with private providers, community resources, volunteers and other
agencies so individuals can obtain services in a simple, straight forward manner;
To allocate public resources for optimal levels of service while recognizing fiscal
priorities of the citizens, changing needs, legal mandates and the County's unique
geography.
