Summer reservations. While reservations are not required for camping at any of the San Juan County Parks or Fairgrounds R.V. sites. Reservations are strongly recommended during the summer, especially for weekends and any summer dates at San Juan County Park on San Juan Island. Any unreserved campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the park; please register promptly upon selecting your campsite. County Fairgrounds R.V. sites are not available during County Fair week mid-August.

Online camping reservations for individual campsites can be made a minimum of 5 days and a maximum of 90 days in advance of arrival. Reservations are accepted from the first Monday in March through October 15, beginning at midnight each day (on the opening day, reservations will be accepted starting at 9:00am Pacific Time).

Campsite fees and maps. Please refer to San Juan, Lopez or Shaw pages for campsite maps, fees and additional charges. Information about R.V. camping at the Fairgrounds is available here.

Washington State Ferry reservations. Washington State Ferries (WSF) has begun accepting vehicle reservations for travel in the San Juan Islands starting January 5, 2015. https://secureapps.wsdot.wa.gov/Ferries/Reservations/Vehicle/default.aspx or http://www.takeaferry.com will get you access to the WSF Save A Spot Vehicle Reservation System.

Pets. Pets are welcome in our parks and at the Fairgrounds, though we do ask that pets be kept on a leash at all times, they be kept quiet and not bothering other park visitors, and the pet owner clean up after their animal. No unattended dogs.

HAMMOCK TENTS not allowed in County campgrounds. While we recognize that some manufacturers are prudent in their design & application and respectful of the environment, there are many who are not. Other traditional tents are, of course, still allowed in any of our park campsites.

Group Reservations. Organized groups will be accommodated in special Group Camp areas on a space available basis. In order to minimize adverse impacts, large groups (more than 40 people at Odlin, 30 at San Juan, or 15 at Shaw County Park) cannot be accommodated at any of the parks from Memorial day weekend to mid-October. Groups must email parks@sanjuanco.com or call 360-378-8420 to reserve space in advance, beginning on January 11. Arrangements must be completed at least 2 weeks prior to group stay; allow ample time.

Commercial/Group Operators. All commercial operators are required to obtain a permit from the Parks & Recreation Director to use any San Juan County park for a business-related purpose. For those who are in the business of providing services primarily to tourists and park visitors, please refer to our Commercial Use Permit Program. Permits are generally valid from the date of issue to the end of the calendar year. Park use without a valid permit is grounds for immediate denial of use privileges. Call the Park Administration office at 360-378-8420 for information. Arrangements must be finalized at least 2 weeks prior to group use; allow ample time.

Special Events. Includes non-recreation events such as (but not limited to) meetings, weddings, birthday parties and receptions. Please call our main office at 360-378-8420 to make arrangements.

Weather. Each of the camping parks is situated along the water, so they tend to be a bit cooler than mainland locations. For your comfort, it’s always a good idea to bring extra layers of clothing. Temperatures typically range from the low 40’s in April to the pleasant 70’s in July and August (winter temp’s can dip below freezing). Rainfall is often less than Seattle, due to the rain shadow effect of the Olympic Mountains, with average monthly accumulations of less than two inches from April through September.

San Juan County resident reservations. We offer early advance reservations for people who reside in our county year 'round. Please call our main office at 378-8420 for information. Early resident reservations are accepted in January and February. Proof of County residency is required.

Off-season. During the off-season (October through April), the islands take on a slightly different personality. The pace of life slows just a bit, but the majestic natural beauty remains. And the weather can be dramatic and delightful! Community events and activities are scheduled year 'round. Come enjoy the San Juans like the locals do.

Campsites are on a strictly first-come, first-served basis from November 1 through first week of March each year. Self-registration information is posted at each park. Enjoy more relaxed camping and reduced fees, too (reduced services - no water or garbage; some restrooms may be closed). If planning to camp at the County Fairgrounds with an R.V. please contact our office in advance for details (360) 378-4310.

CAMPSITE CHANGES made at Odlin Park in 2014

The park renovation project was completed for the 2014 camping season!

If you're planning your camping stay at Odlin, and weren't there in 2014 or 2015, we have some updates for you. Sites #1-4, along the beach, are now 'Park & Walk' sites; if you bring a car, it must be parked across from the park office or as directed by park staff. Beach site #5 has been reconfigured, and site #6 has moved to the beach. We now have two revamped sites (#8A and 8B) suitable for RV's up to 30 feet (no hook-ups); 8B is also accessible. In the upper campground, sites 16, 18, 20, & 22 have been renovated and now feature a wetland behind. When you make your online reservation, read the site information to ensure you select an appropriate site for your needs.

If you’re thinking about bringing your large or organized group to Odlin Park, e-mail or call now to request your planning materials -- parks@sanjuanco.com or 360-378-8420 (if we can’t answer, leave us a message with your name, e-mail address, and phone number).
