Sheriff Rob Nou
Rob Nou was sworn in as San Juan County's Sheriff on January 10, 2011, succeeding William Cumming.

Sheriff Nou took office with 29 years working experience in law enforcement, including two years as a San Juan County Deputy Sheriff based on Lopez Island.

Prior to coming to the San Juans, he spent more than three decades in sheriff's and small town policing in Oregon.
Undersheriff Brue Distler Undersheriff Bruce Distler was appointed second in command of the San Juan County Sheriff's Office on January 7, 2013.

He is a veteran law enforcement Officer with experience as a Field Training Officer, School Resource Officer, and Marine Law Enforcement Officer in both small town and rural settings. He joined the San Juan County Sheriff's Office in 2006.

Prior to beginning his law enforcement career, he served 22 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant in Aeromedical Evacuation. He has a Masters degree in Management- Criminal Justice from Colorado Technical University.
