General Rules
Relationship With Staff & Others
- Be polite and respectful to all, including staff, other residents, attorneys, law enforcement officers, visitors, teachers, guest speakers etc.. Polite and respectful includes: what you say, how you say it and the gestures,facial expressions and eye contact you use.
- Be properly dressed (pants and shirt) at all times unless you are in bed and under your blankets.
- Conversations with others are to be of an appropriate nature and at a volume that does not disturb others. Inappropriate topics are such things as crimes, drugs, sex, violence or put downs of others.
- Do not argue with staff. Do not argue with staff about point score. Arguing with staff about your point score is an automatic major violation. If you have a complaint use your grievance procedure.
- Do not call staff (via intercom or otherwise) without good reason. Good reason is a legitimate problem or need.
- Do not use swear words.
- Move directly to and from your room when requested by staff.
- No body contact of any kind. This includes fake fighting, arm wrestling, shadow boxing, kicking and poking.
- When in your rooms, you may carry on appropriate conversations with persons in rooms directly next to your room. Yelling down the halls is not allowed.
- Participation and reasonable effort in school activities and programs is required for an average or maximum score.
- Criminal charges can be filed for malicious damage done to the Detention Facility.
- Do not scratch on or do damage to walls, doors, beds, toilets, sinks or any other surface or thing in the facility.
- Do not stand on the top bunk or on any ledge if your room is so equipped.
- Room Winners, are those who do an exceptional job of cleaning their rooms.
- Staff will conduct room inspections and inventories each shift.. The cleanliness of your room will significantly effect your night time behavior daily point score.
- You are to keep your room neat and clean which includes: no food in the toilet, no spit wads, no spitting or wiping body fluids about the room.
- You are to take care of all items issued to you during your stay in detention. Such items include: clothing, blankets, sheets, towels, books, cards, toothbrush, comb, etc.
- You will be required to sweep and clean your room every morning.
- You will be required to thoroughly clean and scrub your room before your release.
