Reservations & Cancellations

County Parks Closed to Camping

By order of the San Juan County Council and in the best interest of the public and our staff, all four County Parks are closed to camping until May 30, 2020. This action was taken on Monday, March 23, in an effort to flatten the spread of COVID-19.

Camping reservations for arrival between now and May 30 at any of the four San Juan County campgrounds will be cancelled with full refunds given. Please have patience with us, as we have many reservations to work though! No new reservations will be accepted until further notice.

At the present time, Day Parks and day use are still open, though we ask all visitors to please follow CDC guidelines for 'social distancing'. Some restroom facilities may be closed and there will be no drinking water available in any of the parks. Visitors are encouraged to bring TP and hand sanitizer, as some of our supplies have been pilfered.

For mainland folks contemplating a visit to the San Juans during this pandemic, including day trips, please do not! This is not the time to risk further spread of this disease. The health and safety of our island communities is our highest priority. The request is based on San Juan County Health officials' recommendations and Washington State Governor Jay Inslee's statewide order for everyone to stay home for two weeks beginning March 25.

We appreciate your understanding and efforts to keep our communities safe from the spread of this viral infection.

When not faced with a serious situation like the current COVID-19 outbreak, the parks are open year 'round and there are lots of sites available on a first-come, first-served basis during the winter off-season.

This online reservations system re-opened for the 2020 season on Monday, March 2 at 9:00AM PST. Look for the orange button that says "MAKE A CAMPING RESERVATION" in the upper left corner of the Parks webpage. At this time, we are not taking any new camping reservations for 2020. his may change, once we are clear of the current COVID-19 pandemic.

Summer Reservations

While camping reservations are not required at any of the San Juan County Parks or Fairgrounds RV sites, reservations are strongly recommended during the summer, especially for weekends and any summer dates at San Juan County Park on San Juan Island. Any unreserved campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the park (you must arrive at the park to see if a site is available); please register promptly upon selecting your campsite. County Fairgrounds R.V. sites are not available during County Fair week mid-August.

Online Reservations

Campsite Reservation system opens for the season on Monday, March 2.

Online camping reservations for individual campsites (single or multi-night stays; all depending on campsite availability) can be made a minimum of 3 days and a maximum of 90 days in advance of arrival. Note the applicable dates of each schedule. Fees are also included in the online camping reservation system. Fees are subject to change at any time.

Reservation cancellations - READ CAREFULLY!

No reservation changes or partial cancellations are allowedyou will need to cancel your reservation (subject to our cancellation policy*) and create a new reservation for an available campsite (to change arrival date, campsite, or duration of stay).
As summer reservations are difficult to get, you may want to reserve your new reservation, first, then cancel your existing reservation. If a new site is not available, you may find it advantageous to hold onto your original reservation and simply check out early; no refund will be given. Consider your options carefully!

*Natural phenomena, such as wildfire smoke, earthquake, volcanic eruption, and severe weather may occur in our campgrounds.
