**County Parks Closed to Camping** UPDATED June 4, 2020

By order of the San Juan County Council and in the best interest of the public and our staff, all four County Parks are closed to camping through at least June 30, 2020. This action was taken by San Juan County in an effort to flatten the spread of COVID-19.

Small party camping reservations for arrival between now and June 30 at any of the four San Juan County campgrounds will be canceled with full refunds given. Please have patience with us, as we have many reservations to work though! No new reservations for this timeframe will be accepted unless we can beat this beast down sooner! In addition, there will be no group camping in any of the parks in 2020. It is important to maintain minimum 6 foot 'social distancing', as long as this virus is around us.

At the present time, Day Parks and day use are still open, though we ask all visitors to please follow CDC guidelines for 'social distancing'. Most restroom facilities are closed and there will be no drinking water available in any of the parks. Visitors are encouraged to bring TP, hand sanitizer, and paper towels, as some of our supplies have been pilfered or are difficult to obtain. Even better -- go before you go! Also, please pack out your own trash.

For mainland folks contemplating a visit to the San Juans during this pandemic, including day trips, please do not! This is not the time to risk further spread of this disease. The health and safety of our island communities is our highest priority. The request is based on San Juan County Health officials' recommendations and Washington State Governor Jay Inslee's statewide order for everyone to stay home. As of May 23, San Juan County is in Phase 2, and only ESSENTIAL travel to the Islands is allowed until the County enters Phase 3.

We appreciate your understanding and efforts to keep our communities safe from the spread of this viral infection.
