[ARCHIVED] Today is the Last Day of the Burning Season

firepit

All commercial and residential permits for the 2016-2017 burn season expire on 6/30/2017. Recreational camp fires that are in a fire ring and have a dimension of no more than 2’ by 2’ continue to be allowed in San Juan County until further notice.  No permit is necessary for these fires, however,  the San Juan County Fire Marshal’s office would like to remind all residents that recreational fires are for clean, split firewood to be burned, not yard waste or construction scraps.  Please check the signs at the local fire stations, the County website, or the local fire district sites for the most up to date burning status including when burn bans are in effect.  Thank you all for another safe burning season and we will have permits back on sale in the fall.  Meanwhile, remember to keep recreational fires safe!
